Dealing with D365 Updates – New Navigation Bar

Posted on: June 14, 2019 | By: Kevin Gallagher | Microsoft Dynamics AX/365

Has your company recently updated D365 for Finance and Operations? If so, you may have noticed that the all-important menu path has disappeared from the navigation bar.

New Navigation Bar:

This was a minor but useful feature that allowed users to understand their location in D365 at a glance. With so many similar-looking D365 screens, the menu path provided a clear indicator of where I was.  While the new navigation bar does have a prominent search bar to easily look up screens, the lack of a menu path meant I was constantly getting lost in the system.

If you’re like me and want the menu path back, here’s how to do it.

How to revert to prior navigation bar:

  1. Navigate to System Administration>Setup>Client performance options:2. You will then be brought to a pop-up window with many toggle options. Flip ‘Enable legacy     navigation bar’ to ‘Yes’3. After refreshing D365, you should have the old navigation bar back!
