QAD EE Upgrade Global Tax Management Considerations

The upgrade from Standard Edition or other previous editions of QAD to QAD’s Enterprise Edition will have an impact on master data configurations.   Regardless of the level of change embedded in the project, there are certain areas of the software that will require a review or update of the configuration.

QAD’s Global Tax Management (GTM) is a configuration that requires a review and possible re-design of the master data.  Specific to GTM, Tax Types, Tax Zones and Tax Environment are system wide (database wide) tables.   Tax Types can identify types of taxes. For examples, in a multi-national company, those types can be value added taxes, corporate activity taxes or sales taxes.   Tax zone identify specific jurisdictions (typically) at the country or province level.   Tax environments are combination of ship from and ship to tax zones that apply to transactions and deliver the appropriate tax rate to the transactions.

Deploying a system wide configuration for tax zones and environments will reduce the number of master data records, and therefore, will be easier to support.
