Master Planning Workspace – A refresher

Posted on: December 14, 2019 | By: David Occhionero | Microsoft Dynamics AX/365

The master planning workspace that comes with D365 contains out of the box filters that are extremely valuable to organizations who are looking for quick decisions on urgent orders.

The form opens with tiles around planned orders, calculated delays, and actions which can be clicked, and worked on from another form.  This pane also shows the last time the plan and/or intercompany plan ran, and the plan can be run directly from this tile.

Moving from left to right, the second section of the form shows different filters of planned orders.

  • Urgent orders show any orders that may be running late, transfers, production, purchase
  • Delaying sales shows any planned supply that is delaying sales
  • Delaying forecast shows any planned supply delaying forecasted orders
  • Delaying safety stock shows planned supply delaying configured safety stock levels

From this portion of the screen users can firm and modify the planned orders without having to click into the actual planned order.  The view drop down provides all the screens needed to research why the planned order was generated.  It will show requirements, explosions, pegging, and all the information that is normally contained in planned orders.

This screen may seem basic in nature, but it may benefit your planners if they are not already using it, especially businesses converting from AX 2012 to D365.
