Mass Personalization in Dynamics 365 Finance and operations

Posted on: June 19, 2020 | By: Michael Angel | Microsoft Dynamics AX/365, ERP Selection, Microsoft Dynamics Manufacturing

Users have been able to use personalization since Dynamics AX. Users in the past could add/hide various fields and columns that would make there work day more efficient. The issue would come from the inability to transfer that personalization from one user to another.

Mass personalization removes that headache and provides the ability to apply a personalization to all users seamlessly.

How it Works

A user personalizes a screen to their liking and exports it to a file. The Export process is simple. A user clicks on options in the action pane (Options >”personalize this page” > … > Export).

Once the file has been saved,  a user with the right access can go to Personalization menu (System Administration>Set Up > Personalization). Once the user is in the personalization menu they have the option to Apply a personalization to all users, specific users,  or to a specific role-user base.

Once its determined who will be selected for the personalization, the user selects “Import personalization from a file. The user has the option to add to an existing personalization of the selected user/users or replace it. If “Add to existing” is selected the Personalization will add on to anything that user has personalize. If  “Replace” is selected, it will remove the personalization of the selected user/users and replace it with the personalization from the file.

After the import has been uploaded, users only have to refresh their screens to see the changes.
