Handling Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations’ New Releases with Feature Management
Since its initial release in 2016 and re-branding in 2017, Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations has become a recognized ERP system within the manufacturing ecosystem. One of the ways Microsoft has established its up and coming dominance in the space is through consistent development. For many companies, the constant stream of new features is ideal, as it provides increasing functionality with each update. But what about the companies that were content with just the D365 features they had in a previous release?
For these companies, the Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations Feature Management Experience may be helpful. The Feature Management workspace provides users with a list of features that have been added in each release and allows them to turn these features on or off and allows them to view supporting documentation for each feature. In addition to this, feature management allows you to schedule the enablement of new features, if you want to give your company time to prepare before new functionality is added to your current D365 system.
Within the Feature Management Experience, there are several tabs that allow you to view and control different aspects of the workspace:
- New – Shows all the features that have been added in the last monthly update. If you have skipped any updates, those features will be shown here as well. In this list, features are ordered starting with the newest features at the top.
- Not Enabled – Shows any features that are yet to be turned on.
- Scheduled – Shows features that have been scheduled to turn on. This list is ordered with features scheduled to be enabled soonest at the top.
- All – A comprehensive list of all features from all Dynamics 365 updates.
