Dynamics 365: Release Enhancements Plan April 2021

The 2021 release wave plan for Dynamics 365 brings new innovations that provide you with significant capabilities to transform your business. This month’s release contains the following exciting new features in Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations for these apps: Finance, Supply Chain Management, Guides, and Project Operations. 

Dynamics 365 Finance drives automation and predictive analytics capabilities. 

  • New Feature: Adjustment wizard for asset leases 
    • Business Value: streamlines the adjustment process for parent leases and helps prevent errors by automatically calculating the effect of the adjustment
      • Details: lets you select a lease to adjust, update the financial information, and then preview the adjustment entry and other key financial information before processing the adjustment
  • New Feature: Advanced Bank Reconciliation statement end date and subsequent bank statement start date can be the same
    • Business Value: lets you set the end date of one statement to be the exact same point in time as the start of the next statement
      • Details: allows the endpoint for one statement to overlap the starting point of the next day’s statement
  • New Feature: Cash flow forecasting – project integration
    • Business Value: costs that were forecasted in project management and accounting now are shown in the cash flow forecast that’s available in cash and bank management
      • Details: projects that use a forecast model for cost and revenue estimates can be included in the cash flow forecasting capability in cash and bank management.

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management obtains a unified view of inventory, warehouse, manufacturing, service, and logistics with predictive analytics. 

  • New Feature: Apply rules for grouping work orders while running a maintenance plan
    • Business Value: make the maintenance workers more efficient by optimizing the execution plan for maintenance work orders
      • Details: lets you establish rules for grouping work order lines under a single work order when the system is set to generate work orders automatically based on a maintenance plan
  • New Feature: Bill customers for maintenance work
    • Business Value: introduces capabilities that add efficiency and transparency when you create, process, and bill maintenance work
      • Details: enables you to create, process, and bill maintenance work done on assets owned by your customers
  • New Feature: Landed cost
    • Business Value: enables organizations to increase supply chain visibility and maximize item profitability
      • Details: enables you to define and track each segment of the goods-in-transit journey
  • New Feature: Schedule warehouse work creation

    • Business Value: enables organizations to optimize their outbound order processing with enhanced warehouse management wave processing
      • Details: helps to increase wave processing throughput by using parallel processing to create work
  • New Feature: Enterprise-scale inventory performance improvements and archiving
    • Business Value: improve system performance while preserving your ability to review archived inventory transactions
      • Details: helps to improve system performance by letting you archive old inventory transactions
  • New Feature: Purchase requisition support for Planning Optimization
    • Business Value: accounts for purchase requisitions and automatically creates the required planned purchase orders
      • Details: generate planned orders based on purchase requisitions

Dynamics 365 Project Operations unifies operational workflows to provide the visibility, collaboration, and insights needed to drive success across teams.

  • New Feature: Nonstocked materials for projects
      • Details: provides comprehensive experiences for estimating and tracking the use and consumption of non-stocked materials for project-based work
  • New Feature: Integrated task-based billing setup for projects
      • Details: allows project managers to mark certain tasks as chargeable, nonchargeable, or complimentary, which is then enforced when recording sales values and creating invoices for the costs incurred on those project tasks
