If you have a new Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales environment or have recently upgraded to Version 9.0 which is known as the July 2017 Update, you have probably noticed quite a few changes to your system. Most glaringly is the new interface, which is a cleaner, tighter look. It gets rid of some of the extra white space which people have had issues with for years. Another great feature is the multi-select option set which allows you to choose more than one option on a drop-down.
One thing you may have noticed though is when searching for the Dynamics App for Outlook you do not see it listed in settings where you would normally see it. There has not been much announcement about this, but do not worry, the App is not gone. With the new update to 9.0, Microsoft has moved the App into Preview mode, which is where it should have been all along. The App has always had some issues mainly around tracking and users getting tracking pending warnings. I think that Microsoft has moved this to preview to buy time to fix some of the issues it has had. Once this App is working as designed though, this will surely be a great tool to the Microsoft Dynamics framework.
To get the App in your new environment, go to Settings-Administration-System Settings then click on the Preview tab all the way to the right.
Then on the MailApp Preview section click Yes. Once you click yes here, refresh your system and you will see the ability to add the Dynamics App for Outlook where you would normally see it.
Under Settings, you will see the icon for Dynamics 365 App for Outlook in your system and you can add this to your User’s profiles. Stay tuned for updates as to when this will be out of preview mode and the new functionality that will come with it.
