What finance leaders can take home from FATE 2026

Finance leaders rarely struggle to find another technology option. The harder question is deciding what will improve the business and what it will take to make that improvement stick.
For a manufacturer or distributor, a finance problem can begin well beyond accounting. A late inventory receipt, an unclear costing rule or a break between order entry and billing can surface as unexplained margin or avoidable work at month-end. A useful technology conversation follows that problem to its source.
That is the opportunity at the Finance & Accounting Technology Expo (FATE), taking place November 18–19 at New York City’s Javits Center. Logan Consulting will be at booth 1232 to be part of that conversation. [1, 2]
Two days to make a better decision
FATE brings finance technology providers and finance leaders into one setting. Its published program includes a manufacturing roundtable, a Controllers Tech Exchange and 15-minute Stack Hacks demonstrations. Those formats give attendees several ways to investigate a decision: compare tools, hear how peers approached change and examine a workflow in action. [1, 3, 4]
The value comes from arriving with a business question. Ask several providers how they would handle the same scenario. Explore the data, integrations and people required to make it work. A clearer shortlist and a more realistic implementation plan can be valuable outcomes even when a purchase is months away.
The exchange also makes us better advisors. Hearing directly from CFOs and controllers helps us understand where priorities are changing, which buying questions remain unresolved and where finance teams need more practical guidance. Conversations with complementary technology providers can expose integration requirements earlier. We want to bring that learning back into the advice we give clients, while contributing the delivery experience that helps other attendees challenge assumptions and ask better questions.
Bring better questions to the floor
Choose one process that regularly creates friction. Describe the problem, who owns it and the decision your team needs to make. Then use questions like these to guide the discussion.
| Your concern | A useful question to bring |
|---|---|
| Cash and margin | Can we trace this result to the inventory, purchasing or billing decisions behind it? |
| Disconnected systems | Where should the data originate, and who resolves the exception when systems disagree? |
| ERP modernization | Which needs can our current system support, and which business changes justify a different platform? |
| AI in finance | What supports the answer, who approves an action and how will the team handle an exception? |
Ask to see the inconvenient case as well as the normal transaction: a missing field, a disputed amount, an approval that arrives late. That is where implementation responsibilities become clearer. Before leaving a conversation, write down the evidence you still need and who can provide it.
Why Logan is part of the conversation
Logan brings experience across Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management, Business Central, Dynamics GP and Customer Engagement, together with Power Platform development, integration, reporting and AI. That breadth matters when the finance question crosses into operations or customer processes. [5]
Our perspective starts with how the business works. A manufacturer investigating inventory value and a distributor trying to connect sales, fulfillment and billing need advice that follows the whole process. The appropriate next step may be better configuration, an integration improvement, a focused assessment or broader modernization. Logan’s Finance and Supply Chain specializations reinforce that delivery perspective. [6, 7]
“A focused workflow problem is often a better starting point than a sweeping transformation.” Logan Consulting, FATE organizer interview, October 6, 2026. [8]
Make the conversation useful after New York
Bring us the process you want to improve, the systems involved and the constraints your team faces. We can discuss what to investigate, the people who should be involved and whether a targeted improvement or a wider project deserves attention. A productive first conversation should make the next decision easier to explain to the rest of your business.
Remember one thing: The value of a technology conference is the quality of the decision you can make when you return.
