Show and Hide Fields in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Although this may seem elementary in nature, it is always good to remember that there are show/hide buttons in AX.  The reason why I am bringing this up is because this issue came up recently at a client site.  IT had a request in to change a user’s security.  The security was updated, and at the same time the user realized that they no longer could enter in note details in document handling.  The user had to enter critical notes, and IT had to spend a day analyzing the security change, seeing if a privilege was mistakenly removed, or if override access was granted.

This screen shot shows what the screen looks like when the notes section was hidden.  The user did this by Right-Clicking in the notes section and selecting “Hide.”  Once the User Right Clicks and hits “Show,” the notes will re-appear. (second screen shot)

I know this post is relatively simple in nature, but it is intended to save you and your IT team time when troubleshooting potential issues.  Reading this and having it at the forefront of your mind will allow you to add it to your normal troubleshooting procedures when a security issue comes up.
