Microsoft Dynamics for Sales Version 9.0 is finally out to the general public and if you are on Microsoft Dynamics in the Cloud you should schedule your update immediately! Microsoft quietly released the new update within the Dynamics/Office Admin portal, and because of this there is already a backlog of waiting time to complete the update.

To check and see if your update is available go through the following steps:

  1. Open your Admin Portal at portal.office.com. You must be a Global Admin to have access to this site. When in your Office Portal navigate to the tab ‘Admin Centers.’ Then click on Dynamics 365.

2.  Click on the Updates tab when your Dynamics 365 Admin Center Pan opens. Your status will say update available, but will not give much details about what the update is. Then click Schedule your update on the right under target version. This will allow you to schedule the 9.0 (July 2017 Update).

3.  In the next pane choose your dates for your Preferred Data and Alternative Date. As depicted in the image, at the time of writing this blog (1/21/18), the next available update is on April 1st, 2018 and the next Alternative date is April 15th, 2018. This is why you want to schedule soon.

4.  Now simply approve your update and you should be set. You will not need to do anything on the day of the update, although you may be locked out of your system for an hour or two, this is why you want to schedule the update in the 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM timeframe. The new update has a refreshed user experience interface, allows for multi-select option sets, and other updated functionality.
