QAD EE Improved Serialization Tracking Gains Traction

One of Logan Consulting’s medical device clients is implementing QAD’s enhanced serialization functionality to allow for enhanced tracking of a serialized unit within an inventory lot. Our client, a long-time QAD user, embraced the new functionality and learned it with no outside assistance. Although not in use for our client, the new serialization functionality also allows for managing a unique License Plant Number (LPN) that containerizes inventory to allow for multi-level structures more easily managed by material handlers.
A basic example for use in a Work Order environment allows for the pre-assignment of serial numbers tied to a specific lot and Work Order. When the Work Order is completed using Pack Receipt by WO (16.15.3), complete traceability for the transaction can be seen for the Work Order, lot, and all serial numbers created by the transaction. The Serial Master Browse (3.17.22.2) can be used at any time after the serial numbers are created (reserved) to see the status of a specific serial number. The lot, with associated serial numbers, can then be tracked through shipment.
Logan Consulting is working with other clients to implement this new functionality, which will continue to be enhanced and leveraged by other QAD modules and functional improvements such as QAD Automated Solutions.
