Payroll Transactions Entry Default in Dynamics GP

Posted on: November 19, 2021 | By: Rosie Gill | Microsoft Dynamics GP

Continuing on the blog post series highlighting new features from the October release for Dynamics GP, today we are going to discuss the new ability to save payroll batch defaults in the transactions entry window.

In older versions of GP, the payroll transaction entry window always reset the Pay Period From, To, Days Worked, and Weeks Worked fields any time a user closed the window. This tedious action is often headache-inducing because it makes it difficult to come back at a later time to finish entering transactions if you have other tasks to complete.

Now, Microsoft has updated this window to allow users to save transaction defaults on a per batch basis. With this change, users can now close out the window without worrying about losing any of the data, and then they can access it later and continue working with the same batch without having to redo anything!

To begin taking advantage of this new feature, open up the Transactions menu, and go to Payroll. Once here, click on Transaction Entry and select a Batch ID. Now, any changes made in the Transaction Defaults window will be saved to the corresponding Batch ID when the window is closed.

We hope you are enjoying the blog post series for Dynamics GP. Check out our previous posts to read more about some of the other updates from the release.
