New Updates to Microsoft GP

Posted on: June 1, 2023 | By: Page Wildridge | Microsoft Dynamics GP

Microsoft has released several updates to GP 18.5. These updates are software based and include several updates to tools that should help your business work more efficiently. In this blog we will discuss three new updates to GP and the future of GP.

Printing and Emailing POP Documents Simultaneously

After selecting “Send in Email”, you will be presented with the options to either “Print a Copy” or “Print Remaining for the Print Options.” The former will allow you print all documents selected, while exclusively emailing the documents that are designated for email transmission. The latter will email the documents that are set to be emailed, while simultaneously printing those documents that were not.

Scheduling Checklinks

You can now set a time for the checklinks process to be run, as opposed to running once selected. This will let you run checklinks overnight or during non-peak hours.

Automatic Posting of Batches

As soon as an email approves and finalizes a Workflow task, GP will generate a Scheduled Task to post the batch automatically. This Scheduled Task can be found in the Report Scheduler window. This function can be utilized for Workflows designated to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger batches.

The Future of GP

Looking into the future of GP, Microsoft has announced that it will end sales of GP to new customers starting in April 2026. This will not impact current users, as Dynamics GP is in the modern lifestyle, meaning Microsoft offers continuous maintenance and assistance, including support and bug fixes. The diagram below depicts which versions of GP have entered a fixed lifestyle, meaning Microsoft has a set date for when they will stop supporting that version of the software.
