Microsoft Releases R3: How does it impact your Warehouse?

Posted on: June 16, 2014 | By: Jarrod Kraemer | Microsoft Dynamics AX/365

Microsoft deployed their latest version of AX on May 1, 2014.  This version (R3) addresses many of the requests that have come straight from AX customers!  While significant updates have been made to improve Point of Sale, eCommerce, Social Media, and the Cloud, we want to focus this post on the changes that have been made to increase both visibility and productivity within your warehouse.

AX comes packaged with robust production and inventory management modules that are designed to effectively capture those labor costs that can get lost in the shuffle.  R3 has enhanced these areas to improve efficiency within the warehouse which leads to reduced costs, reduced waste, and improved inventory turns.  As a manufacturer or distributor, you will be anticipating the following changes:

  • Enhanced capability of RF support in picking and receiving inventory
  • Improved item tracking at both the batch and serial level
  • Quality’s ability to seamlessly transition within your warehouses’ processes and procedures
    • In-line testing that has the capability to block inventory when needed
  • Revamping of Transportation Management– Logistical planning just got simplified!
    • Planning has been improved to include:
      • Handling of Multi Shipment Loads
      • Managing Driver check in/check out
      • Satisfying both automated and manual freight calculations
    • Analyzing carrier performance both internally and externally just got easier with the aforementioned transportation modifications

These are just a few of the many changes occurring within the four walls of your warehouse!
