Leveraging Customer Sequence Schedules in QAD

Posted on: October 26, 2021 | By: David Kwo | QAD Manufacturing, QAD Business Process, QAD Distribution

Does your internal or external customer require material to arrive sequenced to their production line manufacturing schedule? If so, your business would benefit from utilizing QAD’s Customer Sequence Schedules.

Customer Sequence Schedules ensure that the correct material ships and arrives in a specific order to the specified place and time to maximize the efficiency of a manufacturing process. For example, say a company needed five parts of different colors at different times depending on which products are scheduled to run.  Sequenced schedules allows the correct colored materials to arrive at the production line at the same time as production items that require them.  This minimizes product stored in facilities, material handling, and potential for disruption of the production process.

Benefits

QAD’s Sequence Schedule functionality offers several convenient features that can help you to leverage sequence scheduling for your business:

  • Ability to import schedules and related information
    • Receive sequenced delivery schedules from customer via EDI
    • Sequence can include delivery location, date, time, and authorizations
    • Maintain multiple sequence schedules and validate differences between releases
  • Ability to coordinate the planning of schedules
    • Add customer sequence release information to standard Customer Schedule Order plan and ship schedules when determining the Required Ship Schedule
    • Utilize customer sequence data to plan production based on the Required Ship Schedule
    • Ensure you produce items in the quantities required to support sequenced shipping
  • Sequenced Shipping Process
    • Ensure materials are picked in correct order so they can be unloaded and used efficiently at destination.  This includes reverse order to ensure the material is unloaded from the truck in the customer’s desired sequence.
    • Print Packing Lists sequenced in forward or reverse order
    • Include Sequence Range on invoices if required
    • Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) can be generated with Sequence information.

QAD’s Sequence Scheduling takes users from picking through packing, shipping, and documentation, allowing businesses to minimize error and waste and maximize efficiency in the manufacturing and shipping processes.
