Dynamics 365: Release Enhancements Plan July 2021

The 2021 release wave plan for Dynamics 365 brings new innovations that provide you with significant capabilities to transform your business. This month’s release contains the following exciting new features in Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations for these apps: Finance, Supply Chain Management, Guides, and Project Operations. 

Dynamics 365 Finance drives automation and predictive analytics capabilities. 

  • New Feature: Block posting and submission of vendor invoices to workflow
    • Business Value: helps prevent inventory costing issues, saving time in the long run for accounts payable staff
      • Details: adds an option to block posting and submission to workflow when it contains a line where the invoice quantity is less than the matched product receipt quantity

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management obtains a unified view of inventory, warehouse, manufacturing, service, and logistics with predictive analytics. 

  • New Feature: Sales order details performance enhancement
    • Business Value: makes the user interface more responsive when opening sales orders, especially orders that include many lines
      • Details: implements the same one-form design pattern already used by purchase orders
  • New Feature: Inventory Visibility Add-in for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management
    • Business Value: enables organizations to maintain a single, global inventory position and easily extend real-time inventory visibility through related applications
      • Details: lets organizations manage global, on-hand inventory with minimal setup
  • New Feature: Enhanced production floor execution interface for manufacturing
    • Business Value: improve worker efficiency by providing a simple and fast way for them to find their next production job using the production floor execution interface
      • Details: enable workers to search and filter the job lists when using the production floor execution interface
  • New Feature: Report as finished and put away when working on a scale unit
    • Business Value: improve the resilience of your warehouse and manufacturing operations by extending your cloud hub with scale units that run warehouse and manufacturing workloads
      • Details: expands the capabilities of scale units by adding report-as-finished functionality together with support for putting away finished products in the warehouse
  • New Feature: Manage changes in formulas and their ingredients
    • Business Value: helps streamline and reduce the cost of managing product data, reduce errors in production, reduce waste when making design changes, and enable new formulas to be introduced in a controlled way
      • Details: be able to do formula management and manage changes to process manufacturing master data
  • New Feature: Product readiness checks
    • Business Value: ensure that all the needed data is fully set up before a product starts to be used in transactions
      • Details: extends support for product readiness checks to all products
