Ask Oracle: NetSuite’s New Conversational AI Assistant

Posted on: September 1, 2026 | By: Jackson Morris | NetSuite

Business leaders who rely on NetSuite for financial and operational reporting often run into the same bottleneck: getting a quick answer means waiting on a report, building a saved search, or pulling in an analyst just to understand something that should take seconds to know. That gap between having data and actually understanding it in the moment is exactly what Oracle is targeting with Ask Oracle, NetSuite’s new conversational AI assistant now rolling out to customers.

What Is Ask Oracle?

Ask Oracle is Oracle’s natural language AI assistant embedded directly inside NetSuite, built as the centerpiece of the broader NetSuite Next initiative. Instead of navigating menus, constructing saved searches, or waiting on a custom report, users can type or speak a question in plain English and get an answer grounded in their own NetSuite data. Ask Oracle became available to existing NetSuite customers with the 2026.2 release, meaning organizations can start using it inside their current NetSuite account before making any decision about moving to NetSuite Next itself.

How Ask Oracle Works

Users can ask about a wide range of topics, from basic questions about how to complete a task in NetSuite to more complex requests, such as analyzing performance trends or generating a narrative summary of the numbers. When a question calls for deeper analysis, the conversation can move into a canvas, a separate workspace for building ad hoc dashboards, charts, and tables. Every response includes a Show Explanation option so users can see how the answer was generated, along with thumbs-up and thumbs-down feedback controls that help refine future responses.

Where Ask Oracle Fits Into NetSuite Next

Ask Oracle is one piece of a larger shift Oracle previewed at SuiteConnect Chicago 2026, where the company outlined NetSuite Next as its biggest platform update since NetSuite’s original launch. NetSuite Next combines Ask Oracle with a redesigned interface, embedded AI throughout the platform, and expanding support for AI agents that can take action, not just answer questions. Existing customers are not forced onto a fixed migration timeline. Organizations can explore a preview account first or enable Ask Oracle inside their current environment and adopt the rest of NetSuite Next at their own pace.

Governance and Data Security

For finance and IT leaders, the natural question is how much control an AI assistant actually has. Ask Oracle operates within each user’s existing NetSuite roles and permissions, so it can only surface information and take actions that user is already authorized to see or do. It also does not browse the public internet, working only within the organization’s own NetSuite instance. That said, an assistant is only as reliable as the data and permission structure underneath it. Organizations with years of accumulated custom roles or inconsistent data hygiene should treat data readiness as a prerequisite, not an afterthought, before rolling Ask Oracle out broadly.

Business Value for Midmarket Teams

For midmarket organizations that don’t have a large dedicated reporting or BI team, Ask Oracle’s biggest value is reducing how often someone has to stop and translate a business question into a technical report request. A controller can ask about overdue invoices by region, an operations leader can ask about order status without opening multiple screens, and both get an answer in the same conversational interface. That kind of self-service analysis can free up time for the people who currently field those requests manually.

Next Steps

Ask Oracle represents a meaningful shift in how NetSuite users will interact with their ERP day to day, but getting real value out of it depends on the data, roles, and processes already in place underneath it.
