The Client

Our client is an Illinois based organization that offers solutions in supply chain management with a strong focus around consumer products. This organization serves clients from wide range of industries such as consumer electronics, direct selling, eCommerce, furniture, health and fitness, home appliance and improvement, maintenance, repair and operations, mattress, and office equipment sectors.  They specialize in order fulfillment, last mile delivery, inbound logistics, and service parts management. Shipping more than 5 million orders annually, this organization is a key player in their industry.

The Opportunity

This organization chose Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 as a result of completing a formal ERP evaluation and selection project. Logan recently helped them implement Dynamics AX Financials and they are now ready to implement Dynamics AX Supply Chain. The new ERP system needed to support all supply chain activities and seamlessly integrate with the organization’s WMS solution.

The Solution

Logan and our client mutually agreed to divide the project into two major phases. With Phase I completed, Phase II commenced and consisted of implementing Dynamics AX Supply Chain. That included the implementation of Product Information Management, Inventory Management, Sales Orders, and Procurement and Sourcing to support all this organization’s companies. From a data conversion perspective, this phase required the conversion of item masters, vendor-item masters, customer master updates, vendor master updates, price master, opening inventory balances, open sales orders, and open purchase orders. Regarding AX integration points, this phase required inbound and outbound integrations with external applications for select processes. In addition to the standard functionality, Logan Consulting implemented many custom modifications designed to specifically meet our client’s needs.

The Results

By implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX in a manner that allowed the business process to dictate the design and configuration of AX, this organization was able to improve their processes in the following areas:

  • Supply Chain Product Information Management
  • Supply Chain Inventory Management
  • Supply Chain Sales Orders
  • Supply Chain Purchase Orders
