As a Microsoft Dynamics GP Partner based in Chicago, we’re always interested in what Microsoft is doing with Dynamics GP. While Microsoft has spent a lot of time focused on the Dynamics 365 platform, they do continue to make improvements to Dynamics GP. To find the latest information on Dynamics GP, go to docs.microsoft.com. Here, you can learn more about Dynamics GP and all other Microsoft solutions.
Navigating the Microsoft Site
The site will list out not only Dynamics GP 2018, but the 2018 R2 release as well. It also goes all the way back to the 2015 release of Dynamics GP. You can navigate to each release by clicking on the left-hand side of the of the page.
So— what’s new in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018? One of the biggest changes to the overall platform is a more comprehensive document attachment feature. You can attach documents to virtually any window in Dynamics GP, even from the customer. You also have the ability to get to the attachment pages from inquiry windows
The next major change to the system is the enhancement of Workflow. Microsoft continues to spend time on the Workflow, allowing vendors to set up general ledger accounts and purchase orders for approval. They have enhanced the Workflow capabilities to allow for reminder emails and copying Workflow steps.
Customer Statements and Purchase Requisition
The other enhancements that Microsoft has delivered are more minor. You are now able to print a customer statement from the customer maintenance window, or when it comes to purchase requisition, the person who created the requisition can be given access to the newly created purchase order once it has been approved.
As mentioned, the improvements that Microsoft is making to Dynamics GP are minor in scale, but it is great to see Microsoft continuing to make investments in the platform. As a Microsoft Dynamics GP Partner based in Chicago, we continue to support Dynamics GP and help people expand and enhance their use of the system.
