Sales and Inventory Forecasting in Business Central
Posted on: December 13, 2021 | By: Rosie Gill | Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
Over the past couple of months, news headlines have been filled with references to the supply chain crisis. The catalyst of this issue is, undoubtedly, the onset of the pandemic. And just like the pandemic, it appears that supply chains will continue to struggle for a while.
Because of this present reality, it’s crucial for companies to be monitoring their inventory levels to ensure that they are operating at maximum capacity and avoiding any potential shortages.
Business Central has a Sales and Inventory Forecast extension that can be set up to aid users in monitoring inventory levels as well as predicting when purchase order requests from vendors should be made.
How It Works
The Sales and Inventory Forecast tool gives users a prediction of potential sales by analyzing historical data. This analysis also gives users information about predicted stock-outs. Ultimately, the extension’s main purpose is to help users make replenishment decisions and requests to vendors that are accurate and save the company time.
Setting Up Forecasting
Business Central is already connected to Azure AI, the third-party AI platform that helps predict future sales. However, users can customize their forecasting by specifying the time period it reports using, such as monthly or quarterly. Moreover, you can specify the number of periods you want reported. It is recommended that users set up a forecast by month with a 12 month horizon.
