Project Code Modifiers in Dynamics GP

Posted on: November 13, 2021 | By: Jim Bertler | Microsoft Dynamics GP

Earlier this month, we announced that we are doing a blog series discussing different new features for Dynamics GP in celebration of the new October release of updates for the solution. In our previous post, we highlighted the ability to implement default sorting options. Today, we are going to go over a brand new window called the Project Code Modifier.

This new window allows users to add modifications to Project Numbers, Project IDs, Contract Numbers, and Cost Categories. Now, you can edit these aforementioned fields for any existing projects, contracts, and cost categories to different values, making it easier to update data in the system.

It’s important to note that this only applies to existing records so that you can assign new numbers or ids that were not previously in the system. Moreover, it’s important to pay attention to updated data if you have 3rd party products working in tandem with your GP system in order to ensure that everything reflects the changes you have made.

In order to access this new window, simply go to the Dynamics GP menu and select Tools. From here, select Utilities, then Project, and then Project Code Modifier. Once you have done this, you can utilize the Code Type field to choose which code you want to modify. After you have selected the desired code, use the Old Code search to choose the existing code, and then enter the new value you want to change it to in the New Code field.

Once these steps are completed, a new Code Modification report will be generated that shows you which SQL tables were modified as a result of this new code.

We hope you are enjoying this blog series, and stay tuned for more!
