Microsoft Releases the Dynamics GP 2021 Roadmap

Posted on: July 23, 2021 | By: Jim Bertler | Microsoft Dynamics GP

Microsoft Dynamics GP is an ERP solution that is designed to aid small and medium sized businesses. This software has innumerable benefits, namely: secure and accurate management of all financial transactions, increased profitability from the supply chain, and increased efficiency in automated human resourcing and payroll processing. Because of these advantages, businesses have relied on Dynamics GP since its inception in 1983. On Jul 8, 2021 Microsoft released a modern lifecycle roadmap, showing plans to sustain Dynamics GP past 2028, but what exactly does this mean?

The Modern Lifecycle Support Policy

Microsoft now has Dynamics GP on a Modern Lifecycle, meaning they will provide bug fixes, product innovation, and software development, replacing the Fixed Lifestyle Policy that preceded it. This Modern Lifecycle Support policy was first introduced with Dynamics GP 18.2 in 2019, and Microsoft has updated and extended it past 2028. Some of the newest features of Dynamics GP version 18.3, released in 2020, include updated security with multi-factor authentication, the ability to copy and paste purchasing transactions from Excel, and more user-defined fields in general ledger transaction entries.
