If someone asked me just how advanced the technology in an ERP system is, I would respond the sky is the limit; the clouds in the sky to be specific.  OK, the future is not in the clouds, it is the cloud.  Cloud computing is the future of ERP systems, and the future is now!  Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 can now be deployed via Microsoft’s cloud platform, Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 has the option of running on the cloud via Microsoft Azure.  Of course, there is always the option of running on your own data center.  Azure, however, offers companies flexibility to meet their ever changing business needs.  Azure is an elastic platform that enables quick development, deployment, and management of AX 2012 R3 across a secure and global network.  Azure can be integrated with your existing IT environment seamlessly.  All of the familiar applications (Sharepoint, SQL Server, etc.) are still available for use.  Thus, there is no further training required for your staff.

The service is offered on a subscription basis, meaning you only pay for what you use.  Azure takes away the stress of managing your IT operations by offering virtual resources, which can be used as little or as much as your business needs.  By taking advantage of these virtual resources, you can lower costs and focus on the infrastructure that will make your business more efficient.

Utilizing Azure for your implementation will be beneficial to your company in many ways.  First and foremost, it is extremely agile.  It allows anyone in your company to develop something new for your system anytime and anywhere.  Expanding on that point, Azure allows you to scale up or down your infrastructure to cater to the needs of your business environment.  This eliminates the worry of being under or above your technical resource capacity.  Remember, you only pay for what you use, and therefore, you can effectively manage costs when experiencing varying levels of usage in your company.  For example, if your company is looking to grow through an acquisition, with Microsoft Azure, you will not have to worry about the infrastructure headaches involved with incorporating the new addition to your company.  In addition to managing costs, your business can capitalize on time savings as you don’t have to worry about waiting around for hardware to arrive and to be set up properly.  Azure is ready to go at a moment’s notice, so you can start developing and implementing new applications to address your business needs immediately.

Another important benefit of Microsoft Azure is their commitment to the security and privacy of your information.  They follow industry standards such as, ISO/IEC 27001:2005 to ensure that your data can be safely and securely store in their third party data warehouse.  Microsoft Azure also comes with 24/7 global support to help with any issues or questions that may arise.  These services come with the best available engineers to keep your system running smoothly.

Microsoft Azure comes in three different services: Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS).  These three different services are designed to consume, build, or host, respectively speaking.

These are just some of the advantages of deploying Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 on Azure.  For a more in-depth conversation on how you can leverage these benefits for your implementation, please feel free to reach out to us at info@loganconsulting.com or (312) 345-8817.
