Jet Reports for Dynamics GP

Posted on: June 13, 2016 | By: Craig Thompson | Microsoft Dynamics GP

Microsoft and BI and reporting software vendor Jet Reports has just announced a partnership to launch Jet Express for Excel for Dynamics GP. This reporting tool will be designed to help users create Excel-based reports tied to their ERP data. This announcement was made at Amplify, the Microsoft and GP User Group co-hosted Conference that took place the weekend of May 23rd.

This new financial and business reporting solution leverages Excel’s expansive analytic capabilities such as charts, pivot tables and custom formatting to rapidly build reports based on any data that exists in Microsoft Dynamics GP. The resulting reports provide insight into operations including sales and finance, A/P and A/R, or inventory.

“Using Jet Express for Excel, business users can create basic reports in minutes, with no advanced programming skills required,” said Jon Oesch, Jet Reports’ Vice President of Sales, who will be demonstrating the product at Amplify. “This means users can leverage all the Excel knowledge they already have on staff to quickly build financial statements and insightful reports directly from real-time Microsoft Dynamics GP data.” In addition to the free version, Jet Reports also offers an upgrade path from Jet Express for Excel to address the more advanced reporting and analytics needs of GP users, says Oesch.

What does this mean for Management Reporter?

At the moment, it appears that Microsoft will continue to be supported and ship now and in future releases of Dynamics GP. Jet Reports is rather different than Management Reporter. Since Jet Reports uses Excel, it has some extended functionality and features.

Jet Reports will assist with the movement of more and more data to the cloud by Dynamics GP customers. Over the next several years, Microsoft is looking to move more and more of its software and applications to the cloud. While Management Reporter most likely won’t be making the trip to the cloud, Jet Express for Excel will help make this transition go much smoother.
