How to Search for Customers, Vendors, and Contacts in Microsoft Teams

Posted on: April 27, 2021 | By: Guy Logan | Microsoft Dynamics Business Central

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offers essential features for users in sales, operations, and various other departmental roles. Often, these roles require the ability to quickly start a conversation with vendors, customers, and other contacts in Microsoft Teams. The ability to search for contacts directly from Microsoft Teams saves time by allowing for quick access of business contacts without needing to switch applications for a simple lookup.

Starting in April 2021, the Business Central app for Microsoft Teams will include an extension that enables messaging and contact lookup using the Business Central database. Users will now be able to:

  • Search Business Central contacts in Microsoft Teams using the search/command function in or from the message composition area. Searchable contacts include prospects, vendors, customers, and more.
  • Share contact cards in conversations in Microsoft Teams.
  • View contact information and their interaction history.
  • View contact insights such as outstanding payments or open documents in Microsoft Teams.

Later this year, Microsoft plans to release another feature that will allow users to call a contact’s telephone or mobile phone number through Microsoft Teams using Microsoft 365 Business Voice.
