In recent implementations, Logan Consulting has seen enhanced functionality and tighter integration of EAM to the core QAD Enterprise Application ERP system. To review, EAM has four major pieces of functionality that can be used to support an organization:

  1. Maintenance – The Maintenance functionality within EAM can be used to drive the work order process for maintenance and repair operations. This includes all Preventive and Predictive maintenance as well as planned and unplanned work to keep equipment operating.

  2. Inventory – Inventory management for indirect inventory such as supplies is seldom maintained in the core QAD EE inventory module, yet is an important and costly portion of a plants budget. EAM users can leverage the EAM Inventory functionality to manage this indirect inventory. EAM supports stores requisitions and approvals, physical inventories including cycle counting, automated stock replenishment, stock-out tracking, and rebuild or repair activities.  EAM connects the cost of inventory to work orders, equipment and to the QAD EE financial system.  Approved requisitions in EAM create Purchase Orders in QAD EE.

  3. Purchasing – EAM can be used to create and maintain requisitions and approvals.  EAM provides purchasing functionality to support all indirect buys, including both services and materials.  Additionally, the software includes requisition functionality for creation, approval and conversion of a requisition into a Purchase Order in QAD EE.  EAM is now tightly integrated with the QAD EE Purchase Order, Receipt and Accounts Payable processes.

  4. Project Controls – The Project Controls module in EAM can be used to manage facility and equipment through design, construction, start-up, improvements, additions, transfers to another facility, shut down, and retirement.  All of these requirements define a project in EAM. EAM can then track actual costs, track scheduled payments and reimbursements, and to create equipment to put into service.

EAM has become an excellent option to help manage the assets of a business utilizing QAD EE.
