Finding the Right CRM Partner

Finding the right partner for your CRM task seems simple enough. You have already evaluated the software and found the one that fits your business now you just need to find a good partner to help you implement. While the task seems simple, many companies often choose great software, but choose a CRM partner that isn’t a good fit. Most partners know the software pretty well but how do you find one that is a good fit for your company?

It’s the Questions Not the Answers

As you start your search for a good CRM partner, many people are looking for specific answers from partners. However, we believe the way to success is to ask the right questions.

Many clients ask the standard questions about rates or experience in a specific industry, but those are all the same questions and partners have their standard answers. The key lies in asking good questions, tough questions. Essentially, what are the questions that you should ask. When you ask the tough questions you will understand if the partner you are speaking to is the right fit for you.

For example, many clients ask about implementation approach which is of course important.  But wouldn’t you as a potential client like to know what you can do to make your implementation successful. Or even what you can do to help reduce the overall consulting effort and cost of your implementation. It seems simple but it is an important and often overlooked question.

Executive Leadership

One of the questions we ask our CRM clients is “Do you have executive buy-in for the project”. We ask this question because in our experience, a CRM project that lacks executive leadership will really struggle. So one question you may want to ask your implementation partner is who can your executive leadership interact with during the project. If you know as the client that you have executive sponsorship who will that person speak and interact with if there are issues. At Logan Consulting we have a Quality Assurance Advisor on each project that interfaces with executive leadership. These QA Advisors are principals in our firm with years of implementation experience. Sure you can always call the salesperson or your account representative but if problems arise you will need an experienced implementation professional to work with your executive leadership.

Conclusion

Finding the right CRM partner isn’t impossible but it does require you to ask tougher questions and dig deeper. Logan Consulting doesn’t shy away from tough questions. We actually find them a great way to differentiate ourselves. So, don’t be afraid. Figure out the tough questions and ask them! It may be the key to the success of your project.
