Since version eb2 of QAD’s MFG/Pro, Linked Site Costing has been an important feature of this tool. If it is your business policy to maintain an item’s costs at the same cost value across sites, Linked-Site Costing allows your company to better manage costs across sites. If the profile of your company is the following:

1. Distributed site environment.
2. Single domain.
3. Costs are the same at all sites regardless of purchased manufactured code.

Linked-Site Costing works by defining a reference or GL Cost Site. This reference site is where items costs are formulated and deployed. You can link this reference site to other sites based on the following rules:

1. By Inventory Site.
2. By Item Master Site.
3. By any user defined Site.

Deploying Linked-Site costing can save your team an enormous amount of time by eliminating the requirement of deploying costs to each site by using the Cost Set Copy to Cost Set program The copy program will typically require a nightly batch process to assure that any new parts added to your database are replicated across all of your sites.
