New Self Service Features in Dynamics GP 2013 R2

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2, released in May, has many new and exciting features. One new feature that partners are thrilled about is R2’s new self-service functions. These self service functions include:

Requisition Management- Users are able to enter their own purchase requisitions. These requisitions tie in with purchase order processing and are workflow enabled.

Employee Self Service- Time cards and time on behalf of a user can be entered directly in Dynamics GP, positioned on either web client or desktop client.

Project Time- Users will have the ability to view time sheet documents as they flow through the approval system, allowing them to edit documents prior to approval completion.

In order to access these functions, a user must have some way of logging into GP at least as a limited user. These functions can be accessed on both the web client and desktop client. When setting up a user in GP 2013 R2 you must go to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools> Setup> System> User and choose either “Full” or “Limited”. For a user who is most likely only accessing GP for self service functions choosing a limited user may be the best option.

New self-service features in GP are entirely easy to use and enable the user to have more control over their projects and time. For more information on GP and on any GP 2013 R2 updates, contact Logan Consulting, a Microsoft Dynamics GP partner.
