One common question I often hear is whether or not AX supports Blanket Purchase Orders. The answer is yes, and they are supported through the use of a Purchase Agreement. In this post, I will walk you through the setup of a Purchase Agreement and explain what each commitment means. First, you will want to navigate to Procurement and Sourcing> Purchase Orders> Purchase agreements and click New to create a new agreement.
The Create New form opens up and you will notice a few mandatory fields such as a Vendor Account number (which will populate other fields), and Invoice account number, and a currency. You can also set up dates that determine when the agreement will be active. Other pieces of information can be filled in as well, and you will have the option to select a default commitment.
There are four commitments:
1. Product quantity commitment– commitment to purchase a specific quantity of a product
2. Product value commitment– commitment to purchase or sell a specific amount of a product or procurement category
3. Product category value commitment– purchase in a specific procurement category for a specific amount
4.Value commitment– commitment to purchase or sell all products, procurement categories or sales categories for a specific amount
Select one and proceed to the next pieces of information such as an address, payment terms, charges, delivery information, and financial dimensions.
Once the header information has been populated, navigate to the line form and enter in your item data such as site, warehouse, quantity, price, and discounts.
After this information is populated you can confirm the Purchase Agreement and make it effective.
Once the agreement is effective you can build release orders off of agreement, by clicking the new release order button. You can specify quantity and delivery date.
Click Create and a new Purchase Order has been created.
