Introduction – Questions to ask your ERP partner
Your choice of implementation partner can make a huge difference in how your ERP project will deliver. To help you identify the best partners out there, we have identified 9 important questions to ask your ERP partner before you make your final decision. These are beyond the basic questions and what you SHOULD be asking.

What makes your implementation process successful?
No one ever thinks to ask about what exactly will make your implementation successful. You will need to find a partner who will understand your business requirements and apply the software functionality that will improve processes and profits. You want a partner who can prove they have successfully complete implementations many times over. There are 3 important things you can discuss with your partner. Define the process, discuss potential challenges, and check out references.
Your partner should be able to clearly describe, with documentation the phases, deliverables and expected outcomes of their implementation process. They should address how they would approach the following:
- Requirements gathering and analysis
- Solution design
- Development and configuration
- Deployment and training
- Post-production support
Every project will hit a bump in the road and your partner should be well versed in how to smooth those out. Whether it’s an undiscovered requirement or an employee resisting change, experienced partners should be upfront about potential pitfalls and how they will be handled when they happen.
Checking references is a crucial step. The partners you speak to should be happy to supply you with names and contact information for previous customers. Call or email those references with your questions and any particular concerns you have.
So instead of asking your ERP partner basic questions, ask them deeper questions to really show the true quality of who you will be working with.
