In working with AX document handling over the years, I have picked up some helpful hints that have made document handling both more user friendly and useful. In this blog I am going to get you started with my favorite tip for using document handling in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. Keep an eye out for additional posts with some more of my most useful document handling tips.
How to easily tell if you have something attached to a transaction with AX document handling?
There is a nice feature in AX that allows you to easily tell if there is an attachment on a record. The attachments button will become highlighted yellow (as shown below) if there is an attachment on the record you are on…ONLY IF you have this feature configured properly.
To make sure the attachments button gets highlighted when there is an attachment on a record click on File > Tools > Options from any screen in Dynamics AX .
And under General > Miscellaneous make sure “Show Attachment Status” is selected.
And voila! Now you will easily be able to tell when you have attachments on documents.
