Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Financials – Create a New Customer
Posted on: April 27, 2017 | By: Jim Bertler | Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
Customers are the source of a business’s income. Each customer must be registered as a customer card because they hold the information that is required to sell products to the customer. Before new customers can be added, sales codes must be set up that are selected when the customer is created. These codes include, but are not limited to payment terms, discounts, and salespeople.
To register a new customer, choose the Customers action on the left-hand side of the homepage to open the list of existing customers.
In the Customers window, click +new. If only one customer template exists, then a new customer card opens with some fields filled with information from the template.
If more than one customer template exists, then a window opens from which a customer template can be selected. In that case, choose the template to be used for the new customer card.
Choose the OK button. A new customer card opens with some fields filled with information from the template. Proceed to fill or change fields on the customer card as necessary. Click a field to read a short description of the field or link to more information.
Once done, exit out of the customer card, so that it is now registered, and the customer card is ready to be used on sales documents.
If a user wants to use this customer card as a template, choose the Save as Template button in the Actions tab of the ribbon. This feature is useful when a certain group of customers have specific attributes that are the same (e.g. most customers have a credit limit of $50,000).
The Customer Template window opens showing the customer card as a template.
Fill in the fields as necessary, just like creating a new customer card. Choose a field to read a short description of the field or link to more information.
Once finished, exit out of the template.
