Impressed by AX

Over the past year, our firm has had the opportunity to gain detailed knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX’s strengths and weaknesses. While we’ve been in the ERP space for 19 years and a Microsoft Dynamics partner for the past 8, we had little depth with Dynamics AX. Now, we do.

We have been pleasantly surprised by how intuitive and powerful Microsoft Dynamics is. Frankly, we were expecting software with intimidating complexity similar to what we’ve experienced in evaluating SAP or Oracle JDE. While powerful, our concern is that these kinds of ERP packages add too much complexity and cost to most organizations, especially when compared to more streamlined middle tier solutions. Again, pleasantly surprised.

We have found Microsoft Dynamics AX powerful and flexible. However, as with most ERP implementations, if the organization focuses on the business needs, processes and competitive advantages and configures the software to support these priorities, the Dynamics AX implementation can be straight forward, low risk and highly beneficial to the organization.

We believe it is absolutely critical to select the correct ERP provider, the correct package within that provider and the correct modules which are necessary to support your business. Depending on which vendor you’re talking about, this can range from straight forward to confusing and murky. Certainly the ERP vendor’s interests are not always aligned with the customer’s. With Dynamics AX, especially with the SaaS Cloud offering, there is little of this confusion because almost all modules are included in the SaaS monthly per user price.

Our firm is confident we can help your company assess how well Dynamics AX fits your business and, if appropriate, can help lead your organization on a cost-effective, value-driven implementation which stresses the importance of priorities like supporting business needs, business processes and competitive advantages without getting tangled in all the ERP complexity.
