Dynamics 365: Release Enhancements Plan February 2023

The 2022 release wave 2 plan for Dynamics 365 brings new innovations that provide you with significant capabilities to transform your business. This month’s release contains the following exciting new features in Dynamics 365 for Finance & Supply Chain Management for these apps: Finance, Supply Chain Management, Guides, and Project Operations. 

Dynamics 365 Finance drives automation and predictive analytics capabilities. 

  • New Feature: Optimize year-end close

    • Business Value: helps execute year-end close faster and gives visibility into the year-end close processing results.
      • Details: ensures that the year-end close processing will run on the microservice when the Optimize year-end close service is installed on Dynamics 365 Lifecycle Services and the Optimize year-end close feature is enabled in Dynamics 365 Finance.
  • New Feature: Access new bank reconciliation report

    • Business Value: provide clear, overall information of bank reconciliation status and bank transactions within a certain period, supporting a better auditing evidence.
      • Details:the bank reconciliation report has an improved layout and additional fields to help with the bank statement reconciliation process
  • New Feature: Financial Dimension service

    • Business Value: creation and validation of unique financial dimension values is a costly operation that can be improved with the Financial Dimension service, which is able to update the data in parallel.
      • Details: improves the process of resolving financial dimensions when you import a large number of journals.
  • New Feature: General ledger year-end enhancements – specify balance sheet dimensions and year-end close service

    • Business Value: comprises a number of enhancements that improve performance during the year-end close process.
      • Details: ability to specify balance sheet financial dimensions in detail when you close a year and improved overall performance so that the year-end close process runs more efficiently.
  • New Feature: Select posting date in advanced bank reconciliation

    • Business Value: customers can set the posting date of bank transactions in the bank statement and the accounting record
      • Details: users can select the bank statement line booking date with separate voucher numbers as posting date of new transactions.
  • New Feature: Try quotation enhancements in subscription billing

    • Business Value: many customers import Billing schedule information from an external system where quotations can be generated and customers who start with a Billing schedule don’t have an existing process to create a quotation within Dynamics 365 Finance.
      • Details: enhancements to Subscription billing – Recurring contract billing enable generating sales quotations using the pre-existing quotation report from a Billing schedule.

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management obtains a unified view of inventory, warehouse, manufacturing, service, and logistics with predictive analytics.

  • New Feature: Use finite material scheduling in Planning Optimization

    • Business Value: companies can ensure that planned production orders won’t be delayed to material shortage with automatic scheduling of production orders based on material availability.
      • Details: finite material scheduling respects dependencies on the availability of materials required for production.
  • New Feature: Consider sales quotations in Planning Optimization

    • Business Value: generate more accurate material requirement plans by including demand from sales quotations in their master planning calculations.
      • Details: Planning Optimization incorporates demand from sales quotations into its calculations and planners can specify the confidence level required for a sales quotation to be considered
  • New Feature: Support process manufacturing in Planning Optimization

    • Business Value: get near real-time insights into requirement changes during office hours, made possible by in-memory processing and enables master planning to include supply from processes that output co-products and by-products
      • Details: companies can take advantage of Planning Optimization in process manufacturing scenarios that include multiple outputs
  • New Feature: Source products and materials from multiple vendors

    • Business Value: Automatic vendor selection based on predefined split ratios helps secure improved supplier resilience.
      • Details: Planning Optimization now supports multivendor sourcing by allowing you to establish vendor sourcing ratios that are applied during master planning.
  • New Feature: Display product info in user’s language

    • Business Value: Sales representatives communicating with customers by phone will see product names in their local language, purchasers will be able to search for products in the language they speak, shop floor workers will get product names and instructions in familiar terms.
      • Details: information can be shown in a language other than the system language.
