Dynamics 365 Field Service Enhancements in 2022 Release Wave 2

Posted on: September 25, 2022 | By: Jim Bertler | Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Microsoft’s second of two annual updates, 2022 release wave 2, will begin to be available to the public on October 1st. In anticipation of the release, we wanted to go over some of the new features and changes Dynamics 365 users can expect to see in the Field Service application.

Microsoft has outlined three major areas of investment for the platform: resource scheduling, optimize service operations, and empower frontline workers. Let’s provide a brief overview of each specific area.

Resource Scheduling

Having the tools to effectively manage resources and optimize scheduling is crucial in efficient field service management. Resource scheduling allows organizations to identify work orders that have not been dealt with yet and assign them to the closest available technician. Users have access to a schedule board that expands the scheduling capabilities of managers.

In the 2022 release wave 2, users can expect to see more performance and usability enhancements for the schedule board, as well as overall resource optimization improvements related to lock constraints and clustering logic.

Optimize Service Operations

Through the optimization of field service operations, service teams can ensure that they are equipped with the proper tools and processes necessary to leave customers satisfied. Dynamics 365 Field Service makes it easy for users to streamline and automate operations.

Empower Frontline Workers

Because service technicians and frontline workers are the faces of any field service organization, it is imperative that they are equipped with the technology necessary to be efficient with their work and in touch with their coworkers and customers.

Microsoft focuses on improving usability in this update, such as introducing more additional fields to customize the mobile grid. Moreover, users will be able to access SharePoint documents even when in offline mode, ensuring that technicians can access any relevant documents at any given moment.
