4 Considerations Before Any Cloud ERP Integration

Deciding to take the plunge and implement a new cloud ERP software system like Acumatica or Dynamics GP is a big step for any organization. Before you decide to dive into the wonderful world of Cloud ERP software, here are 4 considerations before any cloud ERP integration.

 


  1. Cost

One of the more obvious considerations, the cost of an ERP implementation is crucial to recognize. Implementation costs, upkeep, software licenses, training, etc. are all key factors of this transition. It is important to consider the return on investment (ROI) to determine if this is really the best fit for your organization. If the cost of implementing a cloud ERP system is something that is hindering you from making the switch, there are ways to lower the cost of your ERP implementation to help make an upgrade possible.


  1. Individual needs/Software Capabilities

Will you need various customizations? Does the system you're looking into have all of the functionality your business needs? It's important to consider what it is that you want to get out of your new ERP system and find a partner, provider, and software model that fit accordingly. SaaS is not a “one size fit's all” investment, make sure you're putting your needs first.


  1. Security

With all of the cloud hackings in the media, data security is rightfully a concern of those looking to make the switch. While there is something to be said for keeping some of your information on premise, there are several types of data that are better off in the cloud. Determine what exactly will and will not be stored in your new cloud ERP integration early on in the process. Cloud based ERP is quite secure, but it always helps to be prepared by having your own security provider or implementing a system that does the security for you. This way, you can be sure that you are getting the latest and greatest precautionary measures.


  1. Integration with IT

Transitioning from your old on premise model to the new cloud based system takes work, so having the right partner to securely help with this transition is crucial. Checking to see if your new system to smoothly integrate with existing third-party providers with minimum customization could save you a lot of money in the long run.
