Our client is a manufacturer of specialty paper products selling to large retail companies.

 

The Problem

The client was using an outdated, unsupported ERP system. Financial, manufacturing and distribution operations could not collaborate and share information with one another, leading to problems with efficiency. The use of different systems caused redundant re-keying of data and a lack of information regarding inventory levels and product costs.

The Solution

Logan Consulting implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and brought all manufacturing, distribution and financial operations into one integrated platform. Through Logan Consulting’s proven implementation methodology, Logan Consulting and the client were able to work together to implement numerous key components. Some of these components include lot tracking for specific items, a full product costing solution, and bar coding for all inventory moves. With the help of Logan Consulting, the client was also able to implement substitutions in the manufacturing process to accommodate complex Bill of Material (BOM) requirements and full financial functionality to allow users to drill back from invoice to shipment to lot tracked material.

 

The Results

After the implementation, the client saw many tangible benefits in regards to revenue, costs, and more. The increased inventory terms reduced inventory costs and increased profitability, and the newly integrated system was able to eliminate redundant key entry and provide more efficient use of administrative time. The improved inventory accuracy through bar coding helped to reduce inventory stock outs and overstocking of unneeded material. Finally, the full product costing solution allowed the client to fully understand which products were most profitable, leading to the creation of more attractive pricing for customers.
