Microsoft Dynamics GP Integration with Microsoft Applications

Posted on: September 16, 2025 | By: Page Wildridge | Microsoft Dynamics GP

Microsoft Dynamics GP, an on-premises ERP solution, is designed for small to midsized organizations that need robust financial management, distribution, and HR capabilities. Although Microsoft has made several announcements regarding the future of the solution, Dynamics GP still has high levels of functionality that your business can take advantage of. In this blog, we will cover GP’s integration with other applications within the Office 365 space, including Excel, Word, and more.

Integration with Excel

Dynamics GP is shipped with hundreds of prebuilt Excel reports that your business can utilize to present your data. These reports pull directly from the SQL database, giving you live, always up to date information without manual data entry. The Excel integration enables users to refresh data in real-time, with reports automatically updating with current GP data when refreshed.

Alternatively, you can utilize SmartLists to build custom reports by clicking the “SmartList” button in the tool bar. If you want to take your reporting to the next level, click the Excel app logo to export to Excel. There you can customize your reports further. This includes adding sorts, calculations, and other groupings that you typically use Excel for. The seamless Excel integration means your finance team can work in the familiar Excel environment while maintaining data accuracy and connection to your ERP system.

Integration with Word

Microsoft Word integration with Dynamics GP enables sophisticated document generation and mail merge capabilities. Users can create standardized document templates for invoices, purchase orders, statements, and contracts that automatically populate with GP data. The integration includes Report Writer functionality that enables custom reports designed in GP’s Report Writer to be exported directly to Word format. Additionally, a comprehensive template library provides access to pre-built Word templates for common business documents.

Integration with Outlook

Microsoft GP works directly with Outlook to help you save time sharing information from the ERP. You can link your contact information from the software to make reaching out to your clients run more smoothly. The Outlook integration brings GP functionality directly into your email workflow, allowing users to send invoices, statements, and reports directly from GP through Outlook.
