Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 – Amazingly Simple

Posted on: September 18, 2012 | By: SuperUser Account | Microsoft Dynamics AX/365

Microsoft is committed to continually providing powerful, agile, simple solutions that deliver value to manufacturing organizations, today and tomorrow. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is the latest evidence of this commitment. With more than 1,000 new features and enhancements across core ERP and manufacturing-specific capabilities, this new release will help you run and continuously improve your own unique mix of manufacturing models, across multiple sites and geographies.

Connecting and driving these capabilities is what we call pervasive interoperability, the natural interaction of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 with other Microsoft business productivity applications and IT infrastructure, communications solutions, and the underlying technology platform that works on-premises or in the cloud.

ERP system adoption is very low in many organizations, even though the information and processes it supports are highly relevant to most users. In addition, aging ERP systems can be extremely difficult to upgrade and use.

Drive user involvement and innovation through easy access to data and processes with a solution that is familiar and simple to use, deploy, and manage.

Let me explain how:

Accelerate user onboarding and adoption with a familiar user experience: Speed ramp-up time for users of all generations with Kanban boards and other visualization tools, touch-based screens for shop floor workers, Microsoft Office “look and feel,” and UI consistency across web browser and Windows desktop interfaces. Use familiar business productivity tools and easily share data between Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Office 2010.

Collaborate easily with employees, customers, suppliers, and partners. Simplify basic supply chain collaboration with Microsoft SharePoint portals for vendors and customers. Simplify advanced collaboration and/or integration with the administrative ERP (two-tier scenario) using Application Integration Framework enhancements. Support end-to-end business process integration with partners and customers through Sites Services, a cloud service for Microsoft Dynamics. Speed information sharing across virtual teams with presence information and Microsoft Lync™ integrated communications. The concept of “self-service” should drive user involvement and innovation!

Simplify deployment, management, and upgrading with application lifecycle management capabilities: Ease implementation and administration of your ERP solution with simplified application lifecycle management that helps improve IT efficiencies. Optimize your IT investments for low TCO and improve productivity further through interoperability between Microsoft Dynamics AX and other Microsoft technologies. For example: Microsoft Dynamics ERP RapidStart Services helps organizations to configure the financial domain of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 quicker through a QA dialogue that will automatically drive the configuration of the system. Currently this solution is only available in the US and covers the financial domain. The plan is to extend to other domains and countries. A roadmap is available.
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 has more functionality, but we’ve kept it simple, and the application lifecycle has been made much easier. For example, the improved way of performing upgrades in the new release.
