Key Updates to NetSuite
Posted on: January 20, 2025 | By: Page Wildridge | NetSuite
Today, cloud-based ERP solutions need to consistently take feedback from customers and update their software to stay competitive with the newest features. NetSuite releases updates twice a year to meet that requirement. Their latest update, 2024.2, is a big one that includes numerous fixes and new features across many modules. Here, we will be going over a few of the major updates they just released for the inventory management, warehouse management, and manufacturing modules.
Inventory Management
Review Item Line/Inventory Detail Quantity Mismatch Task
A new task called Review Item Line/Inventory Detail Quantity Mismatch has been added to the Period Close checklist. This task shows a list of inventory posting transactions that have quantity mismatches between item lines and their inventory detail. Each transaction can be viewed and resolved. This task must be marked complete to move to the next accounting period close task.
Combine Minimum Order Quantity with Lot Sizing Options
Adds the ability to pair the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) with any lot sizing option. MOQ will be changed to be a combination of the current MOQ and a lot sizing method of lot for lot.
Extend Limit for Demand Plan Horizon and Purchase Lead Time Beyond One Year
With the new release, the Supply Planning demand horizon and purchase lead time limit has been extended to three years. This time limit was one year before the update.
Warehouse Management
View Time in Date Fields on Wave Transactions
Created Date, Released Date, and Completed Date now have the time viewable as well on wave transactions. Orders can now be prioritized by date and time on the app and reports.
Added Printed Pick Ticket Filter Criteria to Waves
This criterion allows waves to be filtered based on whether they have a printed pick ticket already generated.
Cycle Counts Updates
The new Generate from Plan mobile process allows users to create inventory cycle counts on the mobile app. Inventory counts can be started, completed, and submitted for approval in the mobile app with the Start and complete counts on app WMS rule. Counts will still need to be created from cycle count plans that are made in the NetSuite UI.
Bar Code Scanning for Bulk Serial Numbers
The Scan bar codes with bulk serial numbers? WMS rule allows the scanning of an item bar code with multiple serial numbers. The serialized item bar code will enter all the serial numbers of an item without the need to enter or scan each serial number.
Changing Bins During Order Picking
Partial quantities of an item can now be picked from different bins for sales and transfer order picking flows. After entering the quantity to pick from the first bin, click Other Bin to choose another bin to pick from.
Manufacturing
Restrict Copying Bills of Materials to an Assembly
NetSuite no longer creates separate/new Bills of Materials for copied assemblies. Instead, the same BOM will be used when an assembly is copied.
Default BOM Revision Dates on Assembly Build/Unbuild
When a work order’s production start date falls within the BOM revision effective date range, then the BOM Revision on a work order is designated as the default BOM Revision going forward.
Correct Work Order Operation Start and End Dates
Setup time is only considered to be a part of the remaining time before the first completion. After the first completion, the setup time is not included. This was not the case before and used to be calculated incorrectly.
Actual Production Start Date Completion Transactions
The Actual Production Start Date is automatically populated based on the first completion transaction and no longer just for Issue Components or Completion with Backflush.
