Billing Jobs in Business Central
Posted on: June 18, 2024 | By: Page Wildridge | Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
Your business can utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to stay on top of tasks and billing of various projects. As you work on your projects, your costs from materials, resources, and projects can build over time. To help keep track of your expenses, you can utilize Business Central’s Invoice feature to ensure your billing remains accurate and up to date. In this blog, we will cover the different types of invoices and the steps to billing jobs in Business Central.

1. Creating multiple project sales invoices
To create an invoice for a project task for a customer when you have completed the task already, simply search “Project Create Sales Invoice” and choose the associated link. Fill in the fields as necessary and utilize the filter option to limit the projects that the batch job will run. Then, click “OK” and you will be able to review the invoice in the “Sales Invoices” window. Alternatively, you can select the project and choose “Create Sales Invoice”.
2. Creating and Posting Project sales invoices from project planning lines
You can also make invoices directly from project planning lines to customize the quantity of an item or resource that you want to invoice. To do so, open your project and select “Posting” for your “Project Task Type” and choose the “Project Planning Lines.” You can then specify the quantity by changing the “Qty. to Transfer to Invoice” field.
3. Invoice a Third-Party
If you want to invoice a third-party that is not the end customer, you can do so by navigating to the “Projects” page. There, you can designate the customer who is receiving the project in the “Sell-to” fields, and the billed, third-party in the “Bill-to” fields.
