What Can AI Actually Do For You in Business Central?
Posted on: October 29, 2024 | By: Page Wildridge | Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
In the era of ChatGPT and many evolving AI systems, it can be overwhelming to discern the difference between what AI can really do for your business, and what is just marketing campaigns with no real new features. In this blog, we will cover what AI features you can take advantage of within your Business Central to make improvements to your work.

Analysis Assist
“Analysis” mode within Business Central is an easy tool to activate to have your ERP do the challenging data calculations and reconfigurations for you! By starting an “Analysis” tab within your work, Business Central will begin to suggest filters for organizing your data that you can drag and drop into your work. Additionally, you can describe changes you want to make to your data with words- such as “show average cost per category.” From there, the AI tool will start to transform your data.
Bank Account Reconciliation
Although Business Central already has the “Match Automatically” feature, that matches most ledger entries with bank transactions, some transactions can go unmatched. For these, AI is able to take the next step to match these transactions based on amounts, descriptions, and dates. For remaining transactions, Copilot analyzes the transaction description in comparison with General Ledger account names and suggests the best G/L account.
Marketing Texts
Copilot takes the hassle out of writing product descriptions on your items. By clicking generate, Copilot will produce a description of your item that is both descriptive and creative! You can click on Copilot again and again until you get a draft that is sufficient to your needs and sounds the way you want.
Sales Lines Suggestions
Copilot can automatically make line suggestions for you within your sales documents. These include invoices, sales quotes, and orders, based on your previous inputs. This exciting feature allows users to type prompts to Copilot, and the AI will fill in information for you. Just like under Analysis mode, you can type a query to Copilot, such as “pull the products from invoice 10230,” and the information will be added to your sales document.
Next Steps
Although AI seems to be rapidly ramping up its abilities, it’s important to know which tools really exist and how they can save you time. Overall, the features that we have listed in this blog are relatively small changes, they can make your ERP experience much easier.
