Microsoft's Convergence 2012 – Days 1 & 2
Posted on: March 19, 2012 | By: SuperUser Account | Microsoft Dynamics AX/365
Day 1 at Convergence 2012 was an excellent start to this year’s annual event. Houston, TX and the convention center here have embraced the Microsoft Dynamics community nicely.
Some areas worth checking out – the Convergence Experience Center (or CEC for short) houses the Community Experience, the Expo Experience and the Microsoft Solutions Experience—all of which were staffed and were ready to greet us.
For those who wanted to connect with colleagues closer to home, the regional Birds of a Feather began at 12:00 PM in the Community Experience. This first day also featured User Group communities coming together. Breakout sessions hosted by the individual communities were included in the Convergence agenda and began at 1:30 PM. These sessions were open to everyone—you didn’t need to be a member of the User Groups to attend.
Last night’s Convergence Reception certainly didn’t disappoint. The Microsoft Dynamics community was invited to Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, for a great party. Food, beverages, music and networking. DAUGHTRY was the special musical guest at the reception and put on an amazing show.
Looking Forward to today (Monday)…
I know I won’t want to miss a minute of the festivities surrounding the Opening Keynote beginning at 9:00 AM, featuring Kevin Turner, COO, Microsoft Corporation, and Kirill Tatarinov, President, Microsoft Business Solutions. I’m sure Rodney Sherwood, the Convergence host, will keep us entertained and ready for a great keynote. I know I am especially looking forward to a session Monday afternoon at 1:30 PM entitled Manufacturing – How Dynamic Businesses are managing ‘End to end, multi-site, and global manufacturing’. We will hear from customers, industry analysts and representatives from Microsoft on how today’s Manufacturers face challenging yet an opportunity-rich environment. Manufacturers need to offer customers options, while keeping costs low, managing global complexity, and meet growing sustainability and compliance requirements. And since technology has taken significant leaps forward, manufacturers continue to rely on legacy business applications built to solve yesterday’s problems. I’m excited to hear from one of the manufacturing industry’s leading analysts describe the unprecedented opportunities and challenges in today’s market.
Last thing…to cap off the day, I will be attending the Expo Reception, which begins at 6:00 PM, checking out all the latest and greatest offered by ISV’s and other Microsoft Partners. Enjoy the day!
