Microsoft CRM Release Delay

Posted on: July 31, 2012 | By: SuperUser Account | Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Microsoft was supposed to release an update by June 30, 2012 that addressed cross browser compatibility. You can read our blog from a few months ago here. Unfortunately this update has been delayed.

We were on a conference call with Microsoft this week and here is what we know.

Microsoft is holding off on releasing it until this fall. They will not have a timetable for another 4-6 weeks. They are simply calling it Fall 2012 update, and apparently they are going to follow this naming format for releases going forward. Apparently there were a lot of issues with the cross-browser and mobile apps, and Microsoft decided to make a few more changes before releasing them. Unfortunately, they were vague on most of the real technical issues.

Microsoft did provide a sneak peak of a few views of the new CRM UI that will become available next year to work with Windows 8 and a other tablets- IPAD & Android. Vastly different, but more suited to touch screen use.

I wish we had more information, but not much else to report. I guess we have to sit tight 4-6 more weeks to get a solid timetable for the Fall 2012 release!
