Have you enabled System Supplementary Analysis Fields (SAFs) In QAD Enterprise Financials?
What are System SAFs?
System SAFs include site, product line, item type, item group, supplier type, customer type and customer region. Up to five system SAFs can be enabled on operational transactions. The most significant System SAFs for internal management reporting are the site, customer type and the product line.
How Does the functionality work?
General ledger accounts are defined with or without a SAF structure. For instance, a Sales account may have a Sales SAF Structure assigned. The Structure definition is:
1. Site
2. Product Line
3. Customer Type
When postings to the sales account occurs, from invoice post, the general ledger transaction string will include the following at the very least:
Entity – Account – Site – Product Line – Customer Type – Amount.
What is the Business Purpose?
If your management team desires to view their business through site, product line and customer grouped profit and loss statements, SAF functionality support the collection of those transactions at the source creation level. Certain accounts will not be assigned a SAF structure. The transactions associated with those accounts will need to be allocated to the reporting dimension based on an agreed upon business allocation method.
