Exception processing in Work Orders and Repetitive

QAD's Work Order and Repetitive modules both possess extensive functionality for production execution and monitoring. However, they do differ significantly in terms of how exceptions, like rejects, scrap and rework, are handled. Specifically, the Repetitive module offers much more robust capabilities related to the reporting of rejects and rework, including the use of multiple reason codes for Pareto analysis. Additionally, the Repetitive module actually maintains rejects queues in work in process, and therefore, rejected quantities have much more visibility than on the discrete side. Moreover, there are dedicated transactions for reporting both rework, scrap, and moves to manage these reject queues.

So, if you find yourself in an environment where there is a significant amount of reject handling and are currently using Work Orders, it may be worth reviewing the Repetitive module to provide more efficient and productive management of these situations.
