ERP implementation success depends on accurate data

Underlying inventory, production, financial, vendor and customer data is critical to implementing a well-functioning ERP system.

This may seem like an obvious statement to many people.  However, it is easy to think you have accurate data when in fact you don't.    Bad data can and almost certainly will result in timely and costly re-work down the line.  It can cause customer facing messes.  It can consume hours and hours of back office administration to fix.  It can make your MRP results and product scheduling unreliable, sending your organization back to the flawed systems of the past.  If your people cannot trust your inventory, how do you operate in a world class manner?  The simple answer is you can't.

Our experience is that many times the data we see is in bad shape.  Implementation teams need to allocate the time necessary to properly evaluate and repair the data during the implementation cycle.  There are several techniques for identifying data issues which are beyond the scope of this blog.  Our point is to take the time to understand and deploy them to help ensure your ERP implementation is successful.
