Microsoft has announced that they just released the newest update to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operation, now version 8.0 (specifically build number 8.0.30.8020).  This is an exciting release as there are many new functionalities that have been included in this update.  We will summarize and highlight the features you need to know!  For a full listing of the updates and additional information on updates to other Microsoft products, please click here.

The first feature I want to discuss is alerts.  Yes, alerts are finally back!  A user can define alert rules based on certain business events such as invoicing a Sales Order or updating the status of a Purchase Order.  I have heard from many different areas of the D365 ecosystem that alerts were a must-add functionality, so I think we can all agree that this is a huge improvement.  We have discussed the concept before, but the custom fields functionality is also now available in this release.  These custom fields do not require a code change, which gives more power to the end users.  The last functionality I want to mention is the sharing of customer and vendor tables.  This feature was available in prior versions such as AX 2012, but it is now also available in D365.

I also wanted to highlight that MS has made improvements regarding Lifecycle Services and environment management.  There is a new channel to report production outage meaning you can escalate a support issue with Microsoft if your Production environment is not available.  Also, there have been improvements made to financial reporting (Management Reporter) and upgrade automation- making it easier to upgrade non-production environments.  For additional information please feel free to reach out to us at info@loganconsulting.com or (312) 345-8817.

All the best!
