User, Site Owner, and Developer Training

“Features drive adoption” – that is our SharePoint mantra. However, a feature is only as good as the user that understands how to best use it.

SharePoint can be confusing environment for the business user, and even more so for the site owner who now has responsibility for content but doesn’t understand how the platform works. We have found that basic user training helps with this situation, but simply isn’t enough. Why? Each SharePoint implementation is unique – certain elements are customized, features are activated or deactivated, so that a general training curriculum may not apply to many end users, site owners, and developers. As such, custom training is essential.

We offer custom training services split into two offerings:
• Custom training curriculum development
• Custom training instruction

All training curriculum development and instruction is done by our full-time SharePoint architects on staff – the same architects that handle initial planning and design. We’ve found that having the right context in which training is done – getting the company culture right, knowing the exact implementation details, is critical in maximizing the effectiveness of training time.

Our approach is to train the trainer – to have our architects work with your best and brightest to evangelize what your SharePoint environment can do for their teams, and to enable them to train their own teams with custom curriculum we can create for you.

Our custom curriculum is not created from scratch – we have a set of internally built training curriculum over the past three years. We take this content as a baseline and add training content that is specific for your SharePoint implementation.

Many people may view training as an expensive, nice-to-have but not need-to-have component of a SharePoint implementation. We disagree – the cost of building features that are not used because they are not understood is too high. And, because features drive adoption, you run the real risk of users never really using your SharePoint environment unless training is done right.
